ABOUT CAPARA
Our names are Olivera and Vera Capara, twin sisters born in Sarajevo-Bosnia. We grew up in Germany, near stuttgart where we completed most of our education from gymnasium to go on and study biochemistry and later change direction into fashion. We visited a technical fashion college first and worked in a commercial fashion company in stuttgart before coming to Antwerp where we studied at the royal academy of fine arts. After graduating we immediately started working for dries van noten and later went on to work with martin margiela himself at Maison Martin Margiela where we were designing the artisanal line for women and men. Him being the reason we changed direction in our education it was a dream come true. It was at our stay at the maison that the artisanal line went from pret-a-porter to haute couture. after that we as well worked with raf simons at Jil Sander and only after this experience we started to work on our own label - Capara. in our own collections we concentrated on ’take luxury and fuck it up’ as Eugene Rabkin from stylezeitgeist had put it in an interview from 2017. We concentrated on ‘intuitive idea developments and pattern making’. Shapes and volumes especially for shoulder pieces combined with artisanal fabric treatments are our passion. The collection was sold to selected stores worldwide and later through our own online store where we introduced a collection drop system and presented the pieces in a unique and authentic way in video formats.
